     "Chattanooga, TN"

     Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga is located in a lush valley surrounded by steep ridges in Tennesee. This city is rich in the history of the Civil War, with several of the key battles fought here. Chattanooga was the place where Sherman began his march through Georgia and finally to the sea. Famous war battles of Lookout Mountain, Chickamauga, and Missionary Ridge were fought in Chattanooga. Much of the area's Historical District is now preserved in the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. These battles are also re-incased using a miniature battlefield with 5000 soldiers at "Battles for Chattanooga Museum Electric Map and Museum near Point Park. This historical attraction also features the last battle of the American Revolution and the Battle of Chickamauga. This is just one of the many historical museums and parks rich with Civil War history. Point Park has the famous "Battle above the Clouds" commemoration as well as other famous Civil War battles.

Inside Lookout Mountain there is a 145-foot waterfall known as Ruby Falls. Inside Ruby Falls are the Lookout Mountain Caverns with the most beautiful calcite formations in the United States. Lookout Mountain also features a breathtaking view of the Chattanooga and Tennessee valleys, as well as the viewing of seven more states. This city is also home to the steepest " Incline Railway" of its kind. This railway will take you to the top of Lookout Mountain where you can view seven states at the world famous "Lover's Leap." Another great attraction is Rock City Gardens, with rock formations and beautiful, lush gardens fit the mountaintop like a crown. This natural attraction started as a hobby of Frieda Carter and her husband, Garnet. This work earned her the Bronze Medal of Distinction by the Garden Club of America. The Chattanooga Choo-Choo was opened in 1909 as a terminal station and was dedicated as Chattanooga's Gateway. It now provides express tours and gourmet dining aboard an authentic dining car, complete with singing waiters and waitresses. Ross Landing, located near the Tennessee Aquarium, started out as a trading post and was the sight of what is known as The Trail Of Tears, when the Cherokees began to relocate. The Tennessee Aquarium is the world's largest freshwater aquarium, homes to over 350 species of fish, birds, reptiles, mammals, and amphibians.

The nine-day Riverbend Festival has over 100 musical artists, ranging from rock to country, blues, jazz and folk. There are many sporting events and plenty of family-oriented activities; beautiful art exhibits; food exhibits, & fireworks exhibits. There are many shopping malls and fine eating establishments all over Chattanooga.
