     Fort Myers, Florida

Known for it's royal palms lining the streets mainly along McGregor Boulevard, Fort Myers or "City of Palms" is 15 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico. In 1841, before Fort Myers there was Fort Harvie and then later reoccupied in 1850 to fight against the Seminoles. At this time the fort was renamed to Fort Myers in honor of Colonel Abraham C. Myers. Places to visit in the city are the famous Edison-Ford Winter Estates which offer tours year round, Imaginarium Hands On Museum and Aquarium offering various exhibits for children of all ages, and the Fort Myers Historical Museum. Other interests include traveling to Pine, Captiva, and Sanibel Islands for it's fine shells, beaches, fishing, and resorts. Areas also to visit and do are the Harborside Convention Center, Burroughs Home, and boat cruising.
