     First known as the "Flour City" when settlers and others like Nathaniel Rochester started milling industries on the Genesee River Falls. Later when the milling industry moved westward, Rochester became known as the "Flower City" through the nursey business of flowers. Also things like the first Kodak camera was invented here by George Eastman, and other important manufacturing goods, such as dental, optical, and surgical goods. Visit the Eastman Kodak Company for tours and the George Eastman House for the International Museum of Photography, a 50-room mansion housing the largest museum of photographic art and technology. Susan B. Anthony's house where civil rights leader who wrote "The History of Woman Suffrage," offers tours in a mid-1800 furnished house. Also of interest to see is the Campbell-Whittlesey House, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, the Rochester Institute of Technology, the Eastman School of Music, the University of Rochester, Cobb's Hill Park, Upper Falls Park, the Mendon Ponds Park offering 550 acres of natural preserve, and the Manhattan Square Park presenting a 100-foot observation tower. One of the most popular recreational activities to do in Rochester is fishing. Lake Ontario offers warm-water angling in the summers and ice fishing in the winters.
